Prometheus - In memoriam Asher Brown
This is an important painting. Just over a decade ago there was a spate of suicides in middle America. All were teens and all were gay. The first was Asher Brown. He was only 13 and he shot himslf. At the time, I thought that the world had become a poisonous place, crippling its young lives with vile prejudice and antipathy. Cyndi Lauper set up the True Colours organisation in response. I think things mayt have moved on but not certain. I am typing this during LGBT+ month, hopeing there are indeed reasons to celebrate, rather than mourn.

This started out as a Derbyshire landscape. I became dissatisfied with it, turned it upside down and added the splurge of angry paint and the spots. The wheel signifies Sansara, but also an all-seeing and disapproving eye.. Transport would be difficult, but I am willing to engage an art-shipping company to move it.
