Cronos
Unlike, say, de Chirico, I never repeat a work. I may take it and run with it, sometimes making something completely different of it. I tend to change medium and scale between the first and second piece. I made an A6 sketchbook at Stanground, where I did my first teaching practice. I thought that was the worst (academic) year in my life until some recent stinkers came straight in at Number One.
I blew the thing up to A4, a pale photocopy on cartridge to start, and then lavished a lot of time adding ink to make the new image. I love caving, though haven't been for many yeras, but this also carries the added note that this old god was overthrown by his own sone and imprisoned in Tartarus.
It is a metaphor for psychological immobilty and almost predicted the awful lockdown of the pandemic, 20 years ahead of time. I often seem to do this, or simply read into the picture after the event.
